Compatibility/Requirements
Q: Do the Dashboards need a special license?
A: No, Any user can run B1UP can also use the Dashboards
Q: Does B1 Dashboard work on HANA?
A: We have added support for SAP HANA in B1UP 2017.04.
Limitations/requirements:
- Does not support the Fiori cockpit style (Update 2021, this is also now supported)
- Requires the ADO.NET component to be installed as part of the SAP HANA Client installation (In the older installations you need both the 32-bit and 64-bit HANA Drivers despite the system being 64-bit)
Q: Does B1 Dashboard work in Browser Access?
A: No, SAP has not made it possible to include custom controls in Browser Access
Q: Does B1 Dashboard work in Web-Client?
A: No, Not in SAP's Web client, but you can get the dashboard widgets in a Browser as part of the B1 Web Dashboards. See more info here
Administration and security
Q: Do all of my users need to have a B1 Dashboard?
A: No, Unlike other modules you can control what users should see on the dashboards and who should not. This is done in the main configuration.
Q: Certain Dashboard Widgets hold Confidential Data. How do I make sure not everyone can see the data?
A: In the dashboard widget overview you can control who has access to what Dashboards; you can either include or exclude users:
Terminology
Q: It is a bit confusing what all the different things in B1 Dashboard are called (View, Dashboard, Dashboard Widget...) How to get an overview?
A: In this video, we explain the various terminology (from 01:00 to 02:20), and in the below image.
Customization
Q: I've changed the layout of the dashboard, but it does not seem to affect the other users. Why?
A: The dashboard layouts are personal, meaning everyone will have their own layout, so your changes are only for your view. If you wish to streamline the layout across all users you can as a superuser use the Dashboard View Manager to transfer the layout between users.
Q: How can I set up another user's layout?
A: You can either log into SAP Business One as that user or Impersonate the user.
Q: Can I add Golden Arrows to my Dashboard Widget data?
A: While we can not show a Golden Arrow, it is possible to define navigation via double-clicks.
Q: Why do I need to manually refresh Dashboard Data. Can it not happen automatically?
A: It can, In the View Setting you can specify Auto-refresh
Dashboard Editor
Q: How do I best learn the Dashboard Editor?
A: We recommend you see this YouTube E-Learning that guides you through the process of learning. Here are the most important topics:
- Hello World Introduction
- How the out of the Box Dashboards was created
- Parameters
- Master Data Filters
Q: Your E-learning does not cover exactly what I wish to do. Any more advanced information?
A: You can try your luck with the underlying technology provider's end-user information, but please note that this is more generic documentation and might not apply B1 Dashboard... Else log a Support Ticket.
Dashboard vs Search
Q: When running the Dashboards, the SAP Business One search are not visible anymore. What to do?
A: You have a few options:
- Use B1UP's B1 Search instead... It can more or less do the same as the base search
- Switch Search-provider in the main configuration, allowing non-Fiori Systems to use SAP's search instead
Q: Switching Search-provider does not work when running B1 Dashboards with the Fiori-replacement System. What to do there?
A: Because the Fiori Cockpit is HTML based, it is not possible to script the search-provider. Instead you can at any time press CTRL+F1 (standard SAP) to launch the Enterprise Search, and this work regardless if the Search-field is visible or not
Web Dashboards
Q: What are the Web dashboards?
A: This is a separate free download from Boyum that allows you to see the Dashboard Widgets in a Browser instead of inside the B1 Client. See more information here
Q: Where is the download (can't find it)?
A: It is a separate download (aka not part of the normal B1UP Download package). You can instead download it here: https://download.boyum-it.com/b1up/b1webdashboard
Q: I can't find a specific B1 Web Dashboard version (It does not match my B1UP version)?
A: Match of B1UP and B1 Web Dashboard is not required (aka we release only new Web Dashboard version when needed), so as long as you are on the same major version (2020, 2021, 2022, etc), you are normally good.
Q: Why don't I see my other widgets like Open Item Lists and Calendars in the Web Dashboard?
A: Web Dashboards only expose the Dashboard Widgets and not the other type of widgets, so while those are the most important you can't say that it is a 1:1 view of what you see in B1 Client.
The other widgets
Q: Where can I find information beyond the Dashboard itself and the dashboard widget (there are a lot of other widgets it seems and they are not really represented here)?
A: You can find information about the other widget here:
- Browser Widget
- Calendar Widget
- Common Functions Widget
- Kanban Widget
- Messages and Alerts Widget
- My Recent Updates Widget
- Open Items List Widget
- Process Flow Widget
- SQL Report Widget
- World Map Widget
- World Clock Widget
Troubleshooting
Q: I have issues running the Dashboards, what to do?
A: See the following various known issues (if none of them apply to your issue then please log a support ticket)
- Dashboards are blank
- HANA: Unable to find a provider (object ref not set to an instance)
- HANA: Cannot find libADONETHDB.dll
- Open Items Widget show odd columns
- HANA: Can't run when HANA ODBC driver version 2.3.144 is installed
Technical stuff
Q: I have some very advanced or specific questions about the Dashboard Widget and Designer. Any tips?
A: The Dashboards use an underlying framework called DevExpress Business Intelligence Dashboards. For that reason, you might get some value out of checking out their technical pages on how the system works: https://docs.devexpress.com/Dashboard/402519/winforms-dashboard/winforms-dashboard
