We are roughly 6 months away from the first 2022.x releases of Boyum products and we want to give you an update on the expected minimum SAP requirements to expect in February 2022 for on-premise products, and in March 2022 for Cloud Apps (Build, Produce and Inspect). Please note that with all plans this is subject to change.
SAP Business One 10 is planned to be the minimum required SAP version that can run Boyum products.
We plan to drop support for SAP Business One 9.3 and make SAP Business One 10.0 FP2102 the minimum required version. This is done as SAP Business One 9.3 is no longer in maintenance mode from SAP and to ensure that we can deliver held back features that are dependent on SAP Business One 10.0
FAQ
Q: Does this apply to all Boyum Products or only some of them?
A: It applies to all of them.
Q: What happens if I do not upgrade to SAP 10. Will my Boyum product stop working in 2022?
A: For on-premise products, the existing version will continue to work as with any other older versions. The main thing here is that all 2022.x releases will require SAP Business One 10 meaning that if you wish to run a 2022.x release you need to be running SBO10. If you don’t want to/can’t run SBO10 you will need to stay on a 2021.x of your Boyum Product.
For Boyum Cloud products, there is no option to stay on an older version. From March 2022, Boyum Cloud products will not be compatible anymore with SAP Business One 9.3.
Q: What happens if I find a bug in a 2021 or earlier release. Will it be fixed for older SAP Business One versions?
A: No, if you find a bug or request a feature it will only be created for a 2022.x release, meaning you need to upgrade the SAP version to benefit from the feature/bug-fix (Above is exactly the same way SAP Business One itself handle product life-cycle so should be familiar with the partners)
Q: What if I'm on SBO 9.3 after February 2022 and I log a Support Ticket. Will it be rejected?
A: We won't flatly refuse people running 9.3 or lower in the support department, but you will be warned that 9.3 is not supported anymore so it is time to upgrade (same as we have done for years if tickets from unsupported versions come in) and overtime help on unsupported version will become a paid service.
For Boyum Cloud products, SAP Business One 9.3 will not be supported anymore from March 2022, so support tickets will be rejected if you’re using 9.3.
Q: Why did you choose SAP 10.0 FP2102?
A: We chose this version as it avoids various SAP 10 Bugs prior to this release. You might still be able to run on lower patch levels of 10.0 but official testing is not done below FP2102.
Q: I have more questions. How can I voice them?
A: Feel free to write in the comments below
Q: When are your plans for the first releases in 2022.
A: The first releases are expected in February. We will announce the content of these releases in separate articles.
