Q: Is 64 bit faster than 32 bit?
A: No, this is a very common misunderstanding. The benefit of 64 bit is that you can use more memory but as long as an Add-on use less than 2GB or memory 64 bit is actually slightly slower than 32 bit (not much but still)
Q: Why have SAP made a 64 bit version if it is slower?!?
A: The main reason is that some big SAP Business One customers that have used SAP for a long time was beginning to get out of memory errors when running big reports.
Q: Can I install both 32 bit and 64 bit on the same machine?
A: While it is technically possible it is not something SAP generally recommend (they have never given an official reason why)?
Q: I want 32 and 64 bit on the same machine. Anything I need to note?
A: You need to remember that when upgrading an add-on you need to do it 2 times. One time for 32 bit and one for 64 bit. If this is not done you can have different add-on version and that can lead to issues.
Q: I want to run 64 bit only. Anything I need to note?
A: Yes, please not that B1UP's server component are 32 bit only (no 64 bit version exist). For that reason the 32 bit DI-API need to be installed on the server in order for it to work.
Q: Can I run 32 bit SAP Business One + Add-ons on a 64 bit Windows?*
A: Yes.
Q: Can I run 64 bit SAP Business One + Add-ons on a 32 bit Windows?
A: No.
Q: Do you recommend running 32 or 64 bit?
A: If you don't have SAP reports failing with out of memory there is no reason to run 64 bit so our general recommendation is 32 bit but it is the same to us.
