Customizing SAP Business One - Comparing B1UP to SDK

  • Updated

Automation and Ease of use vs. Expensive Resources

The Boyum Pack is rather like the iPad or iPhone of the SAP Business One market. The B1UP is the underlying platform, think of this as Apple solving the usability conundrum for phones and tablets. The B1UP makes SAP Business One a usable, intuitive place for the user to work, just as Apple made the iPhone and iPad immediately accessible and easy to control.

Now the customer wants to add features to SAP Business One, rather like an iPhone user would want to download an app. In the world of the Boyum Pack the equivalent of an “app” is a “module” – the customer can activate one or many modules and apply these to the Boyum Pack.

Customizing SAP Business One is not always a simple exercise and sometimes requires either the usage of the Software Development Kit (SDK) or the intervention of a technical consultant. B1UP saves the need for any complex developments and gives you the option to customize easily most of the forms and add the logic required by businesses. Sometimes even with just a right click.

With B1UP users can:

  • Tailor SAP Business One - Redesign SAP Business One screens and menus
  • Create new workflow and business rules on the fly
  • Save time and automate your work
  • Create easy access links inside and out of SAP Business One
  • Reduce errors - Make sure the right data is entered

B1UP allows all that without being a developer - you can do it yourself.

B1UP helps achieve a return on investment (ROI) in the shortest possible time. Return on investment does not just imply in terms of financial gain.

This document was created to compare the efforts needed for using B1UP vs. writing code and the entire process of checking and debugging it. The figures on this document are provided by developers external to B1UP who work for different partners in SAP Business One.

Here is a table which list number of common implementation requests:

Ease of changing a request

Anyone can change – just open the configuration window and modify with ease

In all cases they need to compile and install the add-on. For example, if a customer requested a validation in the reference in a marketing document an add-on is created, but if they want to add another validation they need to modify the code, compile and reinstall the add-on in the customer.
