You are using SAP Business One in cloud environment with Produmex WMS configured. Produmex Mobile clients are used via RDP connection on a remote desktops which are also setup in the cloud. Printers needs to be configured for both SAP Business One clients and Produmex Mobile Client to print documents, reports, and different labels (logistic unit label, reception labels, item labels etc.)
In cloud environment you do not longer need servers on-site, or even applications on your devices. Your applications like Microsoft 365, Google Workspace, SAP Business One , Produmex WMS are running in the cloud.
In a traditional on-premise setup your printers and computers are connected by a wireless or wired network. But in cloud environment printing requests cannot be sent directly to your printer. Your printer is not on the internet but it is connected to your local network. Therefore, you would need some software to send the print job to your local printer on your local network.
Essentially, printing in the cloud is a complex and not easy thing to solve.
The options described below are general guidelines.
The selected printing solution is completely independent from Produmex WMS technology.
Option 1:
Typical and recommended setup. This setup would require:
- VPN tunnel between the cloud and your local network
- Mapping of your local printer on the cloud RDP
This setup depends on stable internet connection, stable and correctly configure VPN connection.
It is not recommended to use redirected printers.
Option 2:
This option relies on using PDF printers, so the documents are printed into PDF files and then transferred to a folder from where the physical printer can access and print the files.
This setup would require:
- Shared network folder from local network to cloud
- PDF Printers installed in cloud RDP-s (PDFCreator, Adobe, Bullzip etc.)
- PDF printer for each physical Printer on local network
- Folder structure for each PDF printer
- An application that scans these folders and sends the document to be printed on local printers.
There are options to use 3rd party applications for printing by scanning the folders or you can also use PowerShell scripts to automate this. The drawback of this method is the response time, as it would take time to generate the PDF file, and the application to scan the folders for newly created files that needs printing. Also you have to take care about the clean of these folders once the printing is done.
Option 3:
Third party cloud printing solutions provided by Cloud Providers.
