Important information about SAP 9.3 PL04 and Boyum/Beas/Produmex products support

On the 4th of May 2018, SAP released SAP Business One 9.3 PL04 and there is, unfortunately, some changes from SAP that prevent Boyum and Beas products from working there properly. This article will explain the details and what you need to do if you plan to go to this release.

Summary of the issue:
SAP has in SAP 9.3 PL04 changed the Crystal Report runtime version to a new version that is incompatible with the one they have used for the last 4.5 years resulting in the Boyum/Beas add-on features that involve Crystal Reports do not work on this version. So in order to work with this new SAP version upgrade to latest Boyum/Beas Add-ons are also required.

Q: What SAP Versions are affected?
A: The first version that is affected is the upcoming SAP 9.3 PL04 but all future 9.3 patches will also be affected. All SAP versions prior to 9.3 PL04 is not affected.

Q: What Boyum / Beas versions are affected?
A: Add-ons "B1 Usability Package" (All versions), "Beas Manufacturing 9.3", "Produmex Manufacturing" and "Produmex Scan" are affected. The add-ons themselves will still be able to run but whenever you use a feature that uses Crystal Reports it will fail due to SAP's change.

Products that are not affected:

• Beas 9.2 PL 5
• B1 iPayment
• CRM for Outlook
• Produmex WMS
• Produmex Operator

Q: How do the error message present itself to the user?

A: While the add-ons can run, if you try to use a feature that requires Crystal Reports you will be presented with an error message similar to this one:
"System.Runtime.InteropServices.COMException (0x8004180B): Document has not been opened."

- Beas 9.3 PL 0: Configuration Wizard -> Administration -> Print and Report setup -> Printing Crystal Reports -> Use Internal CrystalReport Viewer -> choose "Old Internal Viewer"

- Remember that B1UP Server-component also uses Crystal Report so if you have it installed but do not have the B1 Client installed you will need to upgrade to the new version of the Crystal Report Runtime before the new version will work.
