Symptoms:
If a new item is created from product configurator through “sales order”, using a template Item (an item, which contains the product configurator setting but the variant will be created as a new Item).
When the Master Item is copied, the new item is created with the “Onhand” value of the Master item.
Example:
- PA044 is a Template Item and “In Stock”(Onhand) value = 2
- A new item was created PA0440008_000 using a variant of PA044
- The onhand value of PA044 was copy also to PA0440008_000 despite this item does not have any stock transaction.
- If you go to “Audit Report” or “Inventory Data”, there is not any transaction for PA0440008_000. Wrong value is only on “Onhand” field and cause an inconsistent information of OITM.
Solution:
Error was fixed at Beas version 9.2 PL5 (5.27), however the value OnHand has to be fixed also.
To fix the wrong 'OnHand' values, you can run the 'Restore Item Balances' tool from SAP.
You can find it in Help > Support Desk > Restore > Restore Item Balances:
Important: This issue do not generate any stock transaction tracking error.
Good practices:
Error only affects customers who create items from product configurator.
As a good practice, when an Item is created as a template Item, this means an item which has all product configurator setting, but a new item will be created by each variant generated from the sales order, we suggest do not use the template Item in any stock transaction.
