How to prepare Produmex WMS import files for OSE structure

Data import is always a critical activity during any IT project. During Produmex WMS implementation you should create and import the Organizational Structure Elements (OSEs) with possibly many different warehouses, zones, bin locations etc.

Produmex WMS provides a tool called Import tool to manage this process:

This article shows an easy way how to generate import files for your OSE import. You can find the sample OSE import XML templates in your WMS installer media, and also on the following link:

The attached OSE_ImportFile_Preparation.xlsx file can be used to easily build and generate the structure in Excel and then generate the needed XML files. The attached Excel file contains different Tabs for the supported OSEs so you can generate the different XML files:

• 1_OSE_Company
• 2_OSE_Warehouse
• 3_OSE_Zone
• 4_OSE_Dock
• 5_OSE_Bin
• 6_OSE_ProductionLine
• 7_OSE_Printer
• 8_OSE_ThinClient

This is how it works:

1. Open the Excel file and enable the Developer Tab in Excel:
   
   
   
   File -> Options
   
   
   
2. As you see the XML file structure is already mapped to the columns in the Excel file
   
   
   
   
3. You can copy paste your OSE structure elements in the Excel sheets.
   
   
4. Once you are done with the data, you need to press the Export button.
   
   
   
   
   
5. Now open your XML file to check the structure and it will be ready to import it with the import tool.

   TIPS:
   You can keep your original Excel file as a source, and can easily change data if you need. You can also use this file if you are doing the final import to your Production database, but before the import you should for example rename your COMPANY name.
   The import tool can also be used for updating existing OSE elements.
