Warehouse rules in MRP

  • Updated

In this article, we are going to explain the behavior of the Warehouse rules in MRP depending on whether the items are order-related or stock-related.

We are going to use a Warehouse rule for the work order creation.

Note that the default warehouse defined for the specific item is WH 01.

ORDER-RELATED ITEM

Now we create a sales order for this item, and we define the default warehouse 01 on line level:

After running the MRP scenario and displaying the order recommendations to get the warehouse rules,
you need to double-click over the sales order number on the Inflow and outflow tab. Then, the Make tab will load the warehouse rules properly.

Stock-related items

If you directly click over the tab, the warehouse rule IS NOT SELECTED.

STOCK-RELATED ITEM

We will use the same warehouse rules explained before, but change the item to stock-related.

Also, use the full mode of MRP:

Then, we get the following work order:

Please note that the warehouse rule has not been triggered.

Now, we modify the warehouse rules:

Please note that here we delete the "Origin warehouse" as this is not an order-related item now.

Now try again, and you get the warehouse rules properly triggered:

This is the standard behavior of Beas.
The reason: We only have one warehouse rule that need to be working for both types of items. Therefore, if you use a stock-related item, you must remove the origin warehouse as it is not order-related. Once the "Origin warehouse" is removed, Beas will apply the rules properly.
