Batch update jobs / tasks / resources

  • Updated

Rather than updating scheduling elements one by one, it is also possible to change job, task or resource data in batches. The table below lists the data that can be subject to batch updates.

To perform a batch update, select at least two jobs / tasks / resources, then click the Batch Update button above the data grid.

This opens the Batch Update Jobs / Tasks / Resources dialog:

Here you can edit the data you need to change. When the selected items share the same value for an attribute, the value is shown in the form field. When the values are different, the message Multiple Values Found will be displayed. The only exception from this rule is when the system finds checkboxes in different states. In this case, the resulting checkbox will be in indeterminate state, which looks like this:

Once you have edited a field and clicked OK, the attribute(s) will be updated for each job, task or resource unless a rule blocks this. For example, you can’t edit the release date for tasks that have already started.

The same rules / exceptions apply as in the case of editing a job / task / resource in the respective Details dialog, after selecting Edit on a row in the Manage All Data grid.

Example

Let’s try to batch edit the due date buffer for 3 different jobs. Job 2 and Job 3 have Strategy = JIT and Job 4 has Strategy = ASAP. You can see in the screenshot below that both the Strategy and the Due Date Buffer fields show Multiple Values Found.

Now let's set the Due Date Buffer field to 60 minutes for all three jobs:

When clicking OK, a confirmation dialog will be displayed:

Then we get a warning: due date buffer is not allowed on jobs with ASAP strategy.

If now we open the Manage All Data | Jobs grid, this is what we get:

Note that you need to click OK in the Manage All Data dialog to save the new data in the database, i.e. the behavior is the same as on the job / task / resource Details page.)
