The steps of production are called tasks in Schedule, operations in other Netronic Manufacturing products, such as Build or Produce / Manager and Produce / Operator, and routings (route stages) in your ERP system.
Every task needs to be assigned to at least one resource.
To get an overview of the characteristics of the tasks (operations) in your plan, click the fourth icon under the Update menu item.
The Manage All Data modal will be displayed, opened on the Tasks tab. The tab shows a table, with your tasks on the rows and their characteristics in the columns. To edit the characteristics of a task, click the Edit link on its row, indicated by the red arrow below.
The Scheduling Info tab
The Manage Task Details modal will be displayed, opened at its (default) Scheduling Info tab.
Some of the fields on the tab are imported from SAP Business One and thus cannot be changed. However, you can edit/set the following fields:
- Time constraint [Normally, a task’s earliest start date is the release date of the job that it belongs to. However, you can declare a different earliest possible start date for a task manually]
- Task connection # [Tasks are identified by their number in Schedule, e.g. 001. When two tasks are connected, Schedule ensures that no task can be inserted between them. In other words, the second task is started at the very moment when the first one is completed, unless their respective work calendars specify a nonproductive period between them. Task connections are indicated by a chain icon in the plan.]
- Send ahead quantity [The successor task can already begin as soon as the given send ahead quantity is completed by the preceding task. To overlap two tasks, enter here the desired number of units to be consumed before the start of the succeeding task.]
In the table at the bottom of the modal, you can edit the following data:
- Resource group
- Resource usage [The percentage of the capacity of a resource that is needed for a task. It can be a value between 0.01 and 1. A value of 1 means that the full capacity of the resource is required to perform a task. A use case for a value different from 1 can be an oven that can burn up to 100 pieces. If this oven takes two jobs simultaneously, one for 25 and another for 75 pieces, then this can be represented by resource usage levels of 0.25 and 0.75, respectively. This feature should be used only when it is really important, because it is calculation intensive, and thus may reduce performance.]
- Resource constraints [Assign a resource mandatorily (manually) to a task.]
- Task constraint [To mandatorily assign a resource used in a task to another task by adding the preceding task’s name to the Task Constraint column of the second task. The task constraint is applied to the corresponding resource group.]
The Additional Info tab
The second, Additional Info tab of the Manage Task Details modal contains further fields related to the operation. If you specified task custom fields, they will also be listed here - you can see three highlighted by the red frame in the example below.
The editable fields here are as follows:
- Job view bar text [Select a field from the dropdown the content of which you wish to display over the task's bar in your plan in Job view. The default option is Global Setting, meaning the value you specified under Settings - General.]
- Resource view bar text [Select a field from the dropdown the content of which you wish to display over the task's bar in your plan in Resource view. The default option is Global Setting, meaning the value you specified under Settings - General.]
- Task note
- Task custom fields (if any)
The Hyperlinks tab
You can use the third tab of the Manage Task Details modal to add links to your tasks (operations). These links may point e.g. to instructions, drawings or tutorials for the operator. In the example below, we have added two links, one pointing to the Boyum Portal and another to the Boyum Solutions home page to the selected task.
Now after saving your changes, a Hyperlinks item will show up in the right-click menu of the given task, offering access to the two URLs we specified above.
