When a product request for an item is released or an item's operation plan is created/updated in Build, the item's bill of materials (BoM) is created or updated accordingly in SAP Business One. Likewise, when an item's BoM is created/modified/deleted in SAP Business One, the changes are synchronized into the item's operation plan in Build.
When an item that already exists in SAP Business One is assigned to a product request, a copy of the SAP Business One header and line level fields is created.
Any modification of the item in SAP Business One that happens after the assignment of the item but before the release of the product request, is not taken into consideration at release.
Fields that are defined in SAP Business One and not used by Build are not updated by Build and their values are preserved in SAP Business One. For example, UDFs and their values that exist in SAP Business One are preserved this way.
If an item has an open product request, any changes made in Build in the same item's operation plan will be overwritten by the data set in the product request when the request is released.
The screenshot below shows the equivalences - synchronization paths - between an item's operation plan in Build and its BoM in SAP Business One.
Thus, an operation and an instruction in an operation plan in Build translate into a route stage and a text line in the BoM in SAP Business One (and vice versa).
To ensure correct synchronization of the data, Build performs some calculations in the background.
The SAP Business One bill of materials quantities and the header quantity of the SAP Business One bill of materials are calculated from the line quantities and Quantity per or Time per values of the Build operation plan.
The calculations are based on the following formulae:
- Header
<SAP Business One header quantity> = <least common multiple of quantity per values>
- Material lines
<SAP Business One quantity> / <SAP Business One header quantity> = <Build quantity> / <Build quantity per>
- Resource lines
<SAP Business One quantity> / <SAP Business One header quantity> = <Build job time> / <resource time unit> / <Build time per>
