Q: What Outlook versions does CRM for Outlook Support?
A: We only support Outlook for Windows (version 2013, 2016, and O365).
Q: What about the Mac (Apple) version of Outlook?
A: That is not supported as COM Add-in for Outlook is not supported on the MAC.
Q: What about Outlook on the Web / Mobile?
A: That is not supported as it does not support the COM-based Add-in Model
Q: I've heard that Microsoft is making a new Outlook Client for the web (called "New Outlook"), that long-term will replace all the various Outlook clients in the future. Will you support that version?
A: No, that version, is based on the Outlook for the Web version and will not support COM add-ins. More details here.
Q: So the New Outlook does not have any extensibility options at all?
A: Microsoft has stated that they intend to support the web add-in model just like Outlook on the web and mobile. So it is possible to make extensions, but the web-add-in model has a minimal set of features that are nowhere near what CRM for Outlook would require to deliver the same functionality.
Q: Do you have any plans to deliver any sort of add-in to the Web-add-in model?
A: No, not at this time, as this extensibility model is not meant to build add-ins to the same level CRMFO is intended (it is for simple buttons and the like)
Q: So what is the future of CRM for Outlook?
A: For now it is to continue to support the currently supported platforms (just because Microsoft makes a new client, does not mean that the old are not supported anymore), but we will follow Microsoft's evolution of the new Outlook and evaluate the extensibility options as they grow.
