What is a Produmex Weigh License?

Produmex Weigh (Weigh) is a separate license option that is available for Produmex WMS installations.  The Weigh license enables the additional functionality of Weigh Orders which are linked to WMS Production workflows.  This article provides only a brief introduction to Weigh, please review the product documentation for Weigh here. 

And do I need Produmex Weigh to use a Scale in WMS?

No.  Scales can be defined in the WMS Organizational Structure Elements (OSE).  Scale definitions include support for scale communications using either direct communication using a serial port and local network communication via TCP/IP.  Documentation on scale communications is here. 

Various scale commands are available these include: 

• Set tare
• Set zero
• Get weight
• Weight return

When are Scales (without Produmex Weigh) used in WMS?

Scales can be used in several points including capturing the weight of:

• Complete packages on a Packing Line 
• Capturing Catch Weights 

How does Produmex Weigh interact with Scales defined in the OSE?

Scales are defined in the OSE whether or not Produmex Weigh is being used.  Scales must be defined with the correct communications protocol and the correct commands (as described in the question above). 

When using Weigh then also define Weighing Rooms in the OSE.  Both the Scales and the Weighing Rooms in Weigh's 'Weigh Order' transactions.  In this case Scales are defined within the Weighing Rooms.
