Produmex WMS is a very complex system and sometimes a combination of settings or incorrect configurations can lead to a drastic deterioration of system performance.
As we identify common situations, we will update this article to help our partners and customers avoid or fix performance problems faster and easier.
- 3rd party Sales, Commercial, or Marketing reports
Beware of these reports when they are not part of standard SAP Business One or Produmex WMS. These reports can be very heavy on the system, in extreme cases they can block WMS while they are being run. If you notice that the operations on the floor are slowed down, during or shortly after these reports are run, you need to either execute those reports during off-times or ask their provider to review them for performance improvements.
- Massive use of Bin setting Can be destination for picking
This setting is meant to identify special locations, normally staging or stand-by areas that can be used after picking to store items for further processing. Produmex WMS includes these Bin Locations in its calculations for valid destinations of a picking process.
There are usually only few of these locations, however, if all the Bin Locations on a warehouse have this setting on, WMS needs to process every single location in all its calculations of picklist destinations.
If you notice that opening or printing a picklist takes minutes to process, please validate this setting. You can also run this query for a quick check (the result should a column mostly of 'N'):SELECT IsDestinationForPicking FROM PMX_OSEL
- Ad Hoc Picking setting Show stock for location
This setting in the Picklist Controller provides useful information during the Ad Hoc Picking Flow as it shows stock availability of each location for the picker. However, this requires WMS to query the stock of many locations. Normally this is not an issue, as the same item is not stored in hundreds of different locations. However, if indeed the same item is present in several locations, it is advisable to deactivate this setting and verify if performance has been impacted.
