The VJS offers two kinds of filters, the difference between them lying in the time of application.
Understanding Data and View Filters in the VJS
- Data filters function like standard Dynamics 365 BC filters and are applied when data is read, either during the initial launch of the VJS or upon reloading. These filters are effective at the data interface level, ensuring that only the filtered data is transferred from Dynamics 365 BC to the VJS.
- View filters, on the other hand, are applied to data that has already been loaded into the VJS.
Create and edit data filters
To create or edit a data filter, open the relevant dialog by clicking "Choose DataFilter" in the "Setup" dialog.
You can filter by:
- Job
- Job Task
- Resource Group
- Resource
The Job Task filter is especially useful for users who want to focus on specific portions of large jobs. Note that this filter may result in a list of projects where no matching job tasks are found. In such cases, a message will inform the user that no job tasks could be loaded based on the specified filter conditions.
The short video below demonstrates how to proceed after opening the filter dialog.
To ensure that the Edit Data Filter dialog appears when you start the VJS, select the corresponding option in the Setup dialog.
