By default, the VJS allocates workload to a resource either entirely on the planning date or, if capacity-based allocation is enabled, distributes it across available capacities starting from the planning date until the full quantity is assigned. This approach assumes that once a job planning line is scheduled and assigned to a resource, the resource will immediately dedicate all its efforts to completing it.
To address this limitation, you can define a planned end date on the Job Planning Line page.
This sets a target date by which the work on the job planning line should be completed. With the planning date as the start and the planned end date as the end, the VJS distributes the workload proportionally across all available capacity within that time frame.
This approach offers a more realistic way to plan workloads, allowing the resource to complete the task at their own pace over a defined period, rather than compressing all effort into a single day or allocating it rigidly from the start date onward.
