Most of your daily routine tasks will typically be performed under the Understand/Schedule menu item in Schedule.
Views of your plan
You can select from several display modes to get the best insight into your plan. In this section, we will discuss the icons related these modes one by one.
Job view
Click the above Job view icon to display you plan arranged by jobs (production orders). Click the small expand/collapse triangle symbol on the left of a job to see the tasks (operations) it contains. The triangle is indicated by a red arrow in the screenshot below.
In the Job custom view dropdown you can enhance the job view. Jobs (production orders) will be arranged under the fields that you specified under Settings - Job custom views. To illustrate this feature, we specified a custom view called JoesView that highlights the Customer and the Lot fields over the jobs. (Lot was added to our demo account as a custom field.)
Resource group view
Selecting the above icon will arrange your plan by resource groups, and, under each resource group, by resources. In the example below, the resource group is highlighted by a red frame. Clicking on the expand/collapse triangle symbol beside a resource (as indicated by the red arrow) will reveal the tasks (operations) assigned to the resource.
Resource view
Clicking this icon basically results in the same view as the previous one, just resources now are not arranged by resource group. As above, if you click on the expand/collapse triangle symbol beside a resource (as indicated by the red arrow) will reveal the tasks (operations) assigned to the resource.
Calendar view
Selecting this icon will highlight calendar exceptions (non-standard working periods) that you specified on the Calendar Exceptions tab of the Manage Resource Details modal. The exceptions are highlighted in color in your plan, following the color scheme you defined for different non-standard working period categories. See Settings - Categories for calendar exceptions for details.
Navigating in your plan
You should also go under the Understand/Schedule menu item to move around in your Gantt chart.
Click into any calendar unit in your plan header to zoom into the given unit. E.g. the click in the field indicated by the red arrow below will reveal the details of February 2025, as shown in the second screenshot.
You can continue zooming in down to the level of seconds:
To zoom out (i.e. to get a broader time range into view), click the up arrow in the middle of the time stripe indicated by the red arrow below:
You can also zoom in and out by hovering over the time scale and then roll the mouse wheel.
You can use the left and right arrow to move back or forward in time, respectively. Of course, for longer jumps in time you can also grab the horizontal scroll bar at the bottom of the screen.
An easy and smooth way to move forward or backward in time is to click into the Gantt chart area, hold down the left mouse button, and then simply move the mouse to the right or to the left. You can also use this method to push the area in your view down or upwards.
To jump to the start of a given job (production order) in your plan, click on the given job in Job View.
Schedule also offers shortcut icons for navigation under the Understand/Schedule menu item.
Let's take these icons from left to right.
Selecting this icon will fit your whole plan into your current window.
Click this icon to jump to the date / time when your plan starts. The Planning start point and the current date and time (Date time now) are indicated by a red and green line, respectively.
These two icons will take you to the top or the bottom of your plan, respectively.
This icon is a toggle switch. Selecting it will display the "world view", i.e. the smallest zoom possible of your plan at the bottom part of your screen. So, while you can see a particular detail of your Gantt chart in the top half of the screen, the bottom part shows the entire plan, highlighting in red the section that you are focusing on in the top half of the screen.
