Schedule will import/create all existing SAP Business One resources with a default weekly calendar for availability. You can administrate the actual availability of your finite capacity (standard calendar + calendar exceptions) for each resource individually in Schedule.

If you want to make use of the “alternative resource” functionality you have to do as follows:

1. Group your resources into resource groups using the SAP Business One standard functionality.
2. Additionally create resources for each resource group where you would like to use the “alternative resource” functionality.
3. To allow for more advanced use of Schedule features, resources with the type Other will be interpreted differently. Other will be interpreted as a marker to take the earliest available resource of the given resource group. Select the category Other for all of your “parent” resources.
4. Assign the respective parent resource to the routing stage in your bill of materials (instead of selecting one particular resource as you have done before).
5. Once a production order with a parent resource is sent to Schedule, the finite scheduling engine will automatically assign that resource(s) out of the group(s) that will complete the operation at earliest end date.
