Depending on your ERP system, a production order needs to meet some further conditions to be processable in Produce / Manager and Produce / Operator:
For SAP Business One the order ...
- needs to have at least one route stage (operation) specified,
- item(s) and resource(s) in it must be active,
- any resource used in it needs to have its Unit of Measure Text field filled in and its Time per Resource Units parameter set to greater than <0:00:00> in SAP Business One.
For Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central the order ...
- must be based on a routing line,
- must have a location code,
- needs to have an active work center which should not be blocked and should have capacities set,
- machine center(s) need to be active, have a work center associated with them, have their capacities set, and should not be blocked.
In Business Central environment, Produce currently does not handle
- package managed items,
- items managed by both lot and serial number,
- expiration date in the output.
Operation lists
After logging in to Produce / Operator, you will see two lists of available operations.
Only those operations are listed whose parent production order is in released status in the ERP system and the production manager has selected it to be visible to operators in Produce / Manager.
The My operations list shows the operations that you have already worked on. The All operations list is broken into two tabs.
- The All tab contains all available operations, with as many rows for each production order as the number of operations specified for the order.
- The Ready to start tab helps you find the next, upcoming job in the potentially long list of available operations. An operation makes it to this tab if
- it is the first operation of a production order, or
- you have fully or partially completed the preceding operation in the same production order.
In case of partial completion, you need to enter a completed quantity during the PDC workflow in order to make the following operation appear in the Ready to start tab.
The lists can be customized by selecting the columns to be displayed. If your ERP system is SAP Business One, they may include any active custom fields that you have picked for display in the Column selector.
You can search the lists, and the All operations list can be filtered for a given resource (e.g. machine or skilled worker) required. If you enable the More filters switch, you can filter the list by the content in any of the columns (except Estimated duration). Filtering thus can also be applied to any active custom fields.
The Overall status column shows the progress of each operation:
- No work has been done on the operation yet.
- The operation has been started by at least one operator.
- The operation has been partially completed by at least one operator, which means that some materials and time have been booked on it, but has not been completed yet.
The My status column in the My operations list shows the status of an operation from the given operator's perspective, with the values Not started, In progress, Partially completed and Completed.
If an operation is completed by all operators working on it, it is automatically removed from both the My operations and the All operations lists.
With the exception of Estimated duration, the rest of the information displayed in the lists is retrieved from the ERP system.
The Estimated duration of an operation is calculated from the resource time and planned quantity that is defined in the operation plan:
<estimated duration> = <highest setup time of resources> + <highest job time of resources> * <planned quantity>
Operation details
Select the row of an operation to view its details. The details will be displayed on the right side of the screen. The color of the header indicates the status of the operation:
- black - Not started
- yellow - Started
- blue - Partially completed
In the example below, the selected operation has been started, thus its header is yellow.
You may see a black header when another operator has already worked on the given operation, but you have not.
The red frames in the screenshot below highlight the °°° (Options) icons that, when in the operation detail view, hide the table customization, filtering and tab switch functionalities.
You can return to the list view by clicking Back in the top left corner of the detail view.
The detail view shows all important data of the operation as specified in the ERP system, including
- the number of the production order;
- the id of the operation;
- the start date and the due date;
- the item code and name;
- the completed, planned, remaining and scrap quantities;
- information on the resources and materials (to be) used for the operation (detailed below);
- any inspection order assigned to the operation (only if your ERP system is SAP Business One).
If your ERP system is SAP Business One, then for handling inspection orders in Produce / Operator, see Viewing and executing inspection orders during production.
For resources and materials shown in Produce / Operator, see Resources and materials used in an operation.
To start working on an operation, click in the top right corner of the operation's detail screen.
You may not be allowed to start more than one operation at a time. In this case, when you select another operation on top of the one that you still have in progress, the Start button will be disabled on the selected operation's detail screen, and a warning modal will be displayed.
