Cloud Apps are cloud-based software services designed to extend and enhance certain functionalities of your ERP system. Consequently, Cloud Apps is subordinated to your ERP system in the sense that it is always Cloud Apps that follows the ERP system’s data. It is Cloud Apps data that are synchronized to the database maintained in the ERP system, not vice versa.
Backups in implementation and test environments
While you are still building and testing your company database in SAP Business One, you may often need to roll back to an earlier database copy or create a new one. If SAP Business One is already connected to Cloud Apps, such changes will lead to inconsistencies between the data in Cloud Apps and those in the ERP system. Therefore, the best practice is to connect Cloud Apps to SAP Business One only once your company database is stable and tested, and thus is ready for live operation.
It may happen that, despite the above recommendation, you need to run a system in the implementation / testing phase with Cloud Apps and SAP Business One already connected. If you need to restore your SAP Business One database to an earlier backup, then it is essential to maintain data integrity. To do so follow following steps:
- After your SAP Business One database restore, delete your old Cloud Apps configuration in the Boyum Portal
- Create a new one from scratch. Remember that your old Cloud Apps data will be lost.
- It will be synchronized again from the new state of the restored SAP Business One database
- Assign license again with the newly established synchronization
Data loss in SAP Business One in live systems
After a data loss in SAP Business One system, it may be necessary to restore an older backup. In this case, the ERP system will be older than the data in Cloud Apps. Therefore, a complete resynchronization is required to bring the status of Cloud Apps in line with that of SAP Business One.
