We provide a dedicated page to manage simulations called "Production Simulations." On this page, you can create, modify, and publish your simulations with ease.
You can access the Production Simulations page either through the NETRONIC VAPS menu or simply by searching for "Production Simulations." The page interface appears as follows:
This page consists of a set of key functions and a dedicated simulations table. Let’s explore both components separately.
Functions of the Production Simulations Page
The following functions are available:
-
Search: Dynamically filters the simulations list as you type, searching within the description column of the simulations table below.
-
Delete: Remove the selected simulation(s). You can delete multiple simulations at once by first enabling “Edit List.” Note: deletions cannot be undone.
-
Edit List: A standard Dynamics 365 Business Central feature that allows you to edit the table contents directly.
-
EMAD Allocations: Opens the related dialog for managing EMAD allocations.
-
Create Simulation: Create a new simulation based on criteria such as timeframe and production order status. (More detailed instructions are available on how to create a simulation.)
-
View Simulation: Opens the visual schedule of the selected simulation, where you can manage the production plan using drag-and-drop.
-
Update Simulation: Update one or multiple selected simulations here or directly from the planning board.
-
Publish Simulation: Publishes the selected simulation, updating the underlying Dynamics 365 Business Central database. Once published, the simulation is removed from this page’s table.
-
Compare Simulations: Enables side-by-side comparison of different simulations to determine the best fit.
-
View Simulation Data: Opens a tabular view displaying all data included in the selected simulation.
-
Copy Simulation: Quickly create a new simulation by duplicating an existing one, preserving common settings.
-
Filter: Apply custom filters to the simulations table using the filter icon.
-
Layout Options: Choose to view your simulations as a list or as tiles for easier navigation.
-
Notes: Opens a window to add, edit, or delete notes for the selected simulation, allowing you to provide additional context or information.
Additional Information:
When creating, deleting, copying, publishing, or saving (closing) a simulation, a progress window will appear to provide detailed feedback on the action.
Content of the simulations overview table
- Description: You can name a simulation with any description that you want. You can do this when you create the simulation. Or you can just click on a table cell in the "description" column and type in any name for that specific simulation. If you leave the description blank, the VAPS will generate one automatically - for example, as shown in the table above: "Simulation No. 0 on 07/22/19".
-
Default View Color Type: Select the color scheme you want to apply when viewing the simulation (see the separate article on color schemes).
-
Production Order Count: The number of production orders included in this simulation.
-
Invalid: Indicates whether the simulation is marked as invalid.
-
Outdated: Indicates whether the simulation is outdated.
-
Creator: Displays who created the simulation.
-
Created On: The date when the simulation was created.
