How does item placement tool work with UI configuration templates

SAP has this built in "UI Configuration Template" for altering the user interface.
B1UP's item placement tool does the same thing.
I was just wondering how do they cope with each other? what happens if I use both on a form, say sales order?

Hello Dave,
The following article explains the differences between the 2 modules, we do not suggest to use them at the same time since this could cause performance issues.
