“Settings to access printer ‘Printer Name (redirected #)’ are not valid” error appears when a printing process is started from the Produmex Scan application
All printing events are started by the ProdumexServiceBroker. The printer that is configured in “Printers Setup” window of the Produmex Scan add-on must be available on the server on which the ProdumexServiceBroker is installed.
When you connect to a Windows server remotely then your local printers will appear on the server as Redirected printers and they will be available only for you. The number in the redirected text in the name of the printer is your session ID that will be different when you connect again.
The printer names are pre-defined in Produmex Scan. The ProdumexServiceBroker will use these printer names. However, if the number will always be different, the ProdumexServiceBroker will not find the printer and will not be able to print. In production environment you will not be able to use a redirected printer, because it exists only in the RDP connection.
The solution is that the printer must be installed locally on the application server on which the ProdumexServiceBroker is installed.
In case you would like to use the redirected printer for example in your demo and you are connected to the server, then you must follow the next steps:
- Check the printer’s name on the printer property window on the server on which the ProdumexServiceBroker is installed, and you are connected via RDP, and change the configured name in Printers Setup window in SAP. Your session Id will be different.
- Stop the ProdumexServiceBroker service in Windows Services or in Produmex Service Manager application.
- Start the ProdumexServiceBroker in console mode. With this usage your Windows user will be the "run as user" of the ProdumexServiceBroker. The printer will work after starting the Produmex Scan application on the server.
