Reports were previously stored in a file structure that required all users to have access to it. However, this approach has now been centralized and migrated to a database structure for better organization and control. To facilitate this transition, the tool, Perfion.ReportsMoveToDB, has been created. This tool is designed to move reports and publications from the traditional file path storage into the database, streamlining access and management.
Download installation file
- Download the most recent Perfion.ReportsMoveToDB from the Perfion support website.
- Extract all files from the zip-file and place them in a dedicated folder (e.g. c:\Perfion\Perfion.ReportsMoveToDB)
Run the program Perfion.ReportsMoveToDB
- Run the program Perfion.ReportsMoveToDB.exe
- Select the path to the Reports
- Specify the Microsoft SQL Server instance where the Perfion database is installed
- Choose Windows Authentication or SQL Server Authentication depending on your setup
-
Enter the Perfion database name, and click Next.
Once you have configured all the settings in the Perfion.ReportsMoveToDB tool, a summary dialog will appear, providing a recap of the chosen installation options. Here's what you need to know:
-
Summary Dialog:
- The dialog will show the settings and paths you selected during the setup process.
- Review the details to ensure everything is correct.
- Important Remarks:
- Reports and Publications Duplication: If you run the conversion process multiple times, reports and publications may be duplicated in the database.
- Global Stylesheet Behavior:
- The Global Stylesheet will not overwrite existing values. It will only be imported if the Global Stylesheet setting in Settings is empty.
- If there are multiple stylesheets found, the first one in the summary list will be used, but note that this may not necessarily be the one in the root folder.
- Confirm the Conversion:
- If you are satisfied with the selected options and are confident that the conversion has not been run before, check the box labeled "The conversion has not been run before".
- Click Next to proceed with moving the files to the database.
The tool will then begin the process of moving reports and publications into the database, based on the settings you have chosen.
