The VJS allows you to create links across all levels of your plan. Using the context menu, you can establish various types of links between jobs, job tasks, and job planning lines, including cross-level links such as from a job to a job planning line or from a job task to a job.
How to proceed
Click “Start New Link Creation” on the job planning line you want to start with and “End Link Creation” on the job planning line you want the link chain to end.
Specify link type and duration according to your needs and planning situation:
- Start-Start (the successor must not start before the predecessor)
- Finish-Start
The link structure you create in this way will be respected whenever any element in the chain, such as a job or job planning line, is moved.
The link duration is taken into account after a drag-and-drop action or when scheduling successors. If the time interval between the linked elements is shorter than the defined link duration, the link will be highlighted in red.
Schedule successors
This option, located in the menu ribbon, ensures that the link structure is maintained without any buffer time, meaning linked operations are scheduled back-to-back without any temporal offset. This applies to the selected node and all its successors.
Violated link orders appear in red
If the link order within a link structure is violated, the affected link(s) will appear in red.
Edit links
To modify or delete links, click the corresponding option in the link’s context menu:
Selecting “Adjust Link” will open the “Edit Link Options” dialog shown above.
