Merging more PDFs into one
AnsweredHello,
the idea is to be able to merge different pdfs into one pdf.
So when you for example send an email of an invoice to a customer and theres an attachment as a seperate pdf set in the report action of the email - it shouldn´t send 2 different PDFs but one PDF which both of the PDFs are merged into.
I´m aware of that this will already be possible if the second one is a static pdf, that I could simply make another page in my Crystal Report, which looks like it.
The use case is more or less for dynamic things like:
1. Theres an item in my document which has an data sheet in the item masterdata which i want to attach
2. I have a servicedocument for my invoice which describes further what was done in the servicetimes by not blowing up my invoice itself
3. The possibility to merge for example more invoices into one document (monthly export or something like that)

I believe this would be an incredible asset to B1UP. It's very common (speaking from the North American market) to have customers want to send out both the account balance along with the PDF invoices relating to that account balance.
I can normally use a mass delivery output to PDF files and then use a dynamic attachment folder to zip those files. But the request is commonly to merge all of those PDFs into a single file to make it easier for the customer to run through.
I had this requirement again today and we're facing building a workaround. We identified a C# PDF Merge library from Adobe that we might be able to work with in a couple of parts. Use a mass delivery to output the desired invoices to a network folder, then come along with e dynamic syntax C# function to read this folder, merge the PDFs using a library and then give the merged PDF a specific name. Then we'll have to make an email Mass Delivery to pick up this final PDF file.
Kind of an annoying workaround. But this customer is insistent that they have all the PDFs as a single file. Currently they are actually printing, scanning and manually merging the files believe it or not... so this is a high value option.
I think most customers given the option would want to include the invoice PDFs as a single file along with the account balances.
It's true that we could make a grouped Crystal Report and do it this way. This is another way to handle the situation which we'll look into.
But the ability to merge existing PDFs or PDF certificates or other documents to a CR layout would be an incredible asset. Sometimes there are inspection certificates that are scanned and signed stored in a file path that would be really nice to have in one single PDF.
Anyways, I have seen interest in this so I upvoted this idea. Thanks!

How is this going? We have the same requirement.

I know that some companies use novapdf (https://www.novapdf.com) for that. I have no experience myself but that seems to work quite easy.

Yes but we cannot generate a merged PDF within SBO. It would be helpful to add the option to merge PDFs as we are having the option to consolidate deliveries.

I have a customer that would like to have this feature for different documents.
