Store Packaging Type on Logistic Units (PMX_LUID)
When customers use EDI integrations or multiple carriers, it is often important to identify the type of logistic support (packaging/pallet type) used for each shipment. In some cases, the customer doesn't use actual logistic carriers, but the packaging type itself is required for reporting, carrier compliance, or EDI transmission.
Produmex WMS allows users to define packaging dimensions in the PMX_PADI table. While the packaging code/name is stored there, this information is not transferred to PMX_LUID when a logistic unit is created. As a result, the packaging type is not available in SAP packing lists or other downstream processes.

Currently, the only way to determine which packaging type was used is by cross-referencing the dimensions stored in PMX_LUID with the records in PMX_PADI. This approach works only when each packaging type has unique dimensions.
However, this becomes impossible to manage when customers use multiple packaging types that share the same dimensions, such as different pallet categories (e.g., CHEP pallets, white pallets, customer-specific pallets, etc.). In these scenarios, dimensions alone are insufficient to identify the packaging type.
We would greatly appreciate the addition of a new field in PMX_LUID (for example, Packaging Type or Packaging Code) populated from the packaging code defined in PMX_PADI at the time the shipping logistic unit is created and dimensin entered. This enhancement would provide a reliable method to identify the packaging type throughout the logistics process and make the information readily available for SAP documents, packing lists, reporting, carrier integrations, and EDI transactions.
