B1 Print & Delivery - PDF Naming
AnsweredHi,
I have set up several report configurations where multiple crystal reports are actioned, one after the other. I have given both crystal reports the same Report action when the email button is pressed and I have set grouping by business partner on this so when the email button is pressed both crystal reports are ran, generated as pdf's and consolidated on to one email. The issue I have is that both PDF attachments have the same name. This doesn't really work as it is misleading.
Here is an example.
When sending shipments internationally it is sometimes required to send a delivery note and a commercial invoice containing extra details. To facilitate this I set up the Report configuration for the delivery note in SAP to first use the crystal report for the delivery note (line one on report configuration) and then to use the commercial invoice crystal report (line two on report configuration). I give both lines the same email report action with grouping by business partner as described above. I define the attachment name on the email report action, I first set this to Delivery note. When I run the email action I get one email with two attachments called Delivery note. One is the delivery note and one is the commercial invoice.
Is it possible to change the functionality of P&D so that in this scenario you can call each pdf something different? Perhaps move the naming definition to the report configuration screen.
Thanks

Hi Ryan,
You can create a duplicate action and mark that as group level too. Just tested and it still groups the attachments in the same e-mail and you get two different attachment names.
Best regards,
Thomas

Not sure I follow here.
In the Report Action Email, you already control what the PDF Name should be including the usage of Dynamic Syntax.
So unless you have written exactly the same PDF name in all Report Actions there should not be PDFs with the same name

Ryan, you can make a duplicate email action and bind that one to the other crystal report.

Hi,
Great, thanks for your comments. You are both correct, you can duplicate the email action and P&D will group both emails into one with different PDF names. I have tested and it works perfectly.
I didn't realise that P&D would group 2 different email actions as well, I assumed that as the email action was different it would treat it as 2 separate email actions and send two.
