Ability to have an SBO alert send an email

I would like for an email to be sent automatically upon date based changes.

 

For example, I have an alert set up to notify me if a customer's license is expiring in the next two days.

I want to use this alert, or the query it's based on, to send an email to the owner of the license to remind him too.

I understand this is not currently possible, but it would be very useful. 

Alternatively, maybe there is a workaround?
