Add activity to calendar widget by double clicking
AnsweredAs per the main SAP B1 calendar, it would be extremely useful (and provide a consistent user experience) to be able to add an activity to the new calendar widget by double clicking on a time or date (make it bring up the Activity window in Add mode).
To further improve this, you could allow users to schedule the start and end time precisely before the activity window is brought up, by clicking and dragging the time of the event over the day and week views and then allowing a user to right click and "Create activity"

Thank you for your request. It has been scheduled for review by the development team that will get back to you should there be questions.

Hi Ellis, thank you for the request
This is on our internal wish-list as well. We do however properly need to show a popup before we can get to the activity as a calendar can have multiple types of sources. So how would the system know in a calendar that shows both activities and service calls that the double-click means new activity and not new Service call? (In a calendar with only one source it can of cause skip the middle step)

Hi Rasmus,
Thanks for the very fast response. That's great to hear :-)
That's a good question! For our use case, the majority of our users will only either book service calls or activities.
Our support department SAP users book service calls and our admin team users manage the booking of appointments (activities). Perhaps you could create a "Default calendar data type for add" on a per user basis for the calendars that have more than one data source so they can choose their most common type.
I appreciate this won't work for all your users but it may help a significant portion of them to skip the additional step of having to choose.
This is a completely separate idea but your point also just made me think that perhaps there could be a "Recent items" list so that when a user is adding an activity (or wanting to refer back to any other task, BP, campaign etc), if they had previously opened a BP then they could appear in the recent list which would speed up the process of selecting the BP for the activity or service call.
I appreciate a user can open the BP and then choose to add an activity or service call from the "You can also" menu but it could be useful for so many other things, especially where a window is inadvertently closed (which I know happens a lot with our users especially when they're interrupted by phone calls). If you think this idea might be of use to users other than us, I'd be happy to add it to another feature request.
Kind regards,
Ellis

Hi Rasmus, we're just wondering if anything is planned for this feature as it's the only thing stopping our staff from using your calendar vs the integrated one.
We'd even settle for a right-click option on the day of the calendar to bring up a menu enabling you to select service or activity type but a double-left click is more intuitive (to a popup window), if you can't let the user pick a default.

Hi Ellis
It has not really moved forward since the number of votes-increase for the idea have not really happen :-(

Thanks for the quick reply Rasmus. Ah that's a shame. I don't suppose there's any chance you could map double click to the "Activity" add window as per the standard SAP B1 calendar interface? This would at least provide consistency for users of the standard calendar moving to the improved B1 UP version (which is always a good thing to maintain).
