Modify the UDF field size
AnsweredDear support,
The size of the UDF fields under the Interruptions (BEAS_APLATZ_STILLSTAND) is only for 50 characters. Is it possible to change (using the configuration wizard) or is only possible to change directly on the SQL server? Will this manual modification cause any issues?
Thanks, in advance

HI Peter,
You can achieve it by edit the Db.ini, the path is C:\Program Files (x86)\beas software\beas\program, and after you change it , please copy it to your project folder.

Hi,
Thank you for your reply, however I am receiving the following error message even after I followed your instructions.

It seems that is not considering the new filed length.
Any suggestion ?
Thanks,
Peter

Hello,
I have the same issue with an udf field on beas_stl table; I modified the db.ibni file and now the udf1 field is longer (1024 char) than the default 100 character; unfortunately in the beas form I can't insert a string bigger than 100 char...
What can I do?
Thank you in advance for the help.

Hi Massimo,
It seems that event if you change the UDF field size in the ini file, beas will not modify the table/column in the Database. I still don't know if is possible to do if from Beas. The second option would be to modify the column size manually in the database, but lets wait an answer/opinion from the support.

HI Peter,
First, If you change the field size in the db.ini , then run the beas table check , after that , if you check the field size in the SQL , you will find the size will be changed according to the DB.ini's setting, But now the problem is although you change it in the db.ini and SQL,. but the program(UI) didn't change it accordingly , I will create a ticket to follow it.

Hello,
just to give more information, I also opened a ticket about this issue and this is the answer:
"Hi Massimo
Thank you or writing us.
Unfortunately it is not allowed (and not supported) to modify default beas fields, even if it's udf1-15.
If you need larger fields, then you have to use own UDTs/UDFs created in SAP."Hope this could help someone else.
Thank you to Zhiliang and Peter for the support.
Kind regards,
Massimo
