Latest B1 Dashboard version can search BP, Items and Menuitems.

There is simply not room to have the SAP searchbar there as well but if you go to the lover right corner and hide the Dashboard the SAP searchbar re-appear

Agree here, I have some customers who would like the default search bar too.

hopefully the old cockpit will run as long as possible then :) 9 out of 10 over here disabled the B1 dashboard based on 1 complaint only .......... the searchbar, but we need to run sql reports from the old cockpit so fingers crossed !

What is it more exactly that people miss from the old dashboard? The ability to enter docnums or is there other things as well. Our goal is to be able to do everything and more that people did with the old search-bar so they can make the switch

    Hi Rasmus,

The ability to enter docnums is the main problem, but the search is also very slow because of the "deep" search of B1search.

Now we use the SAP search because 90% is for searching docnums/items/bp.
We used unique docnums so it will open directly from the SAP search.

Also our logistics uses a barcode (with docnum value) and uses a load form action to make a delivery.
(e.g scan code, sap search opens the document automatically, load form action, copy to delivery, close order screen)

I asked the users here, but they want the default SAP behaviour and speed (a limited search), and decide if they want to make a deep search into SAP by a button or something when it is not the result there where looking for.

OK, I've added to our internal todo list that we should check if we can support more quick search scenarios on documents (like we do with BP and items).

Regarding B1 Search in general being slow have you seen our new Lucene search? If set up this offer much faster search (in many case 10x faster):

    Hi Rasmus,

We checked it and this works indeed faster.
However the request remains the same, the ability to open a document automatic is mandatory.

(our document no's are unique, so the result is always 1, therefore SAP search opens up de document directly)

So the Lucene such is great, but our employees don't switch from the legacy cockpit.

Ok, fair. As mentioned on our todo list but not planned for a specific release yet

    Hi

Can you tell me when this will be delivered, a customer is quite determined to have the SAP search in the Boyum dashboard.

At current, there is no plan to keep SAPs toolbar other than when you hide Dashboards it re-appear. Instead, we wish to make it obsolete by allowing our search system to be able to do all the things SAP's system can do (same or better).

@Lyn: Could you please highlight what things the SAP search can do that we can't (that the customer use)

They have commented on the slowness to return data and also if there is a single record returned, they want to display that record for that particular search. e.g. if searching for an item, that item record must open.

I limited the search to just Items and Business Partners and it was still slow when we compared it to the SAP search.

They also do not want to keep hide / show dashboard to get to the SAP search option.  Making the dashboard smaller (or the ability to resize) so that they can see the SAP search option then that would solve the issue I believe.

I have not tried the Lucerne options as I need to asses the impact on the customers system before we try it out.

    Hi All.

I have some great news about this request (or I hope at least you like it).

As you know we have been very hesitant to visually display SAPs search tools as it does not have the look and feel of the B1 Dashboard design while you have been telling us loud and clear that you wish that feature (together with B1 Dashboard).

We have thought a lot about these conflicting arguments and we finally think we have the solution.

So you are saying that you wish the SAP search-bar visible but when we think about it, then it actually the search functionality you want to be able to execute.

So what we have built for B1UP 2019.05 (Expected 8th of May) is that while we still visually show our search-bar, when you actually search in our field we script behind the scenes a search in SAP's hidden search-bar so you get the SAP search result from our search-field.

I've made a small video showing you how it works and would love your feedback if this covers what you need or still not good enough- Video is here: https://boyumit-my.sharepoint.com/:v:/g/personal/rwj_boyum-it_com/EVSLQz4GpatJhhnZ1YZCYVoBX2kMmD4KLT9KtMFZSNtajw?e=CYRNvm

I think this will work out, as it uses SAP definition of the search results.
I have made a printscreen when we type a sales order number in, the B1 search is not only slower, but it gives additional results based on ? (i dont know)

When we use the SAP search, it just opens the sales order, no screens or additional results (as the numbers are unique there is always only one result and therefor opens the required document directly)

This looks great, looking forward to trying it out as it will solve a pain point for many of our users.

One comment is that this looks like a company wide setting.  We have some users that prefer B1Search and others that prefer the traditional search, it would be handy to be able to select the default function on a per user basis.  One way to get around this is to turn on the B1 Search menu option which puts the B1 Search box down the bottom of the menu.  If that could use the B1 Search function, and the search box on the dashboard could use the traditional function, this would give users the best of both worlds.  The only problem with that is that the menu function isn't persistent, you need to select it each time you log in.

At the moment it is a company-wide setting. will consider it to be an option in the future. Not so keen on the idea to 2 search-bars shown at the same time (will confuse the user)

Just wanted to give you some feedback on this feature.  We rolled it out with the update this month and it has been brilliant.  We had been having a lot of push back on B1 Search as it didn't suit out business process.  With this update, we've seen a huge uplift in adoption of dashboards which has had a really positive impact on our staff.

So thanks for addressing this one, we appreciate it.
