Update: The SAP Cockpit is even more broken in SAP 10, and we can therefore not offer any kind of support for it in SAP 10.
Hi All
This is an early warning that we have planned to remove support for the SAP Cockpit from the B1UP version 2017.01 release. This means that SQL Reports on the cockpit and our Currency converter from the B1 Usability Package will not out of the box work anymore in 2017.x releases.
Q: Why are you taking this away?
A: The main reason is that SAP's underlying SDK that is used to make the Cockpit widgets have a lot of issues and SAP does not seem to be willing to fix them. It, therefore, gives way too much support compared to what the feature brings.
Q: I use the feature. What do you expect me to use instead?
A: With the 2017 releases Boyum will introduce our own dashboards (see more here) They can also create SQL Reports so you can migrate to those. On HANA they will continue to work out of the box
Q: Does the migration happen automatically?
A: No, SAP's SDK is so limited around the cockpit that it is not possible to make a migration. So it has to be done manually :-(
Q: I really wish to continue using the old cockpit! Is there a way?
A: It will be possible to get the feature back with a manual hidden setting in the BOY_B1UP_CONFIG table. From B1UP 2017.01 this table will contain a new field called U_BOY_LEGCOCK
You can either manually go to the User-defined table and set the value to Y or run following SQL against the database: UPDATE [@BOY_B1UP_CONFIG] SET U_BOY_LEGCOCK = 'Y' WHERE Code = 'Setup'
NB: Using the legacy SAP cockpit option is not compatible with the Add-on Fast connection system introduced in B1UP 2018.02.
Q: I have further questions/comments on this decision!
A: Please address them to support@boyum-it.com
