Capacity planning in Beas

Possible methods:

  • Standard planning in Beas basic: backward, with unlimited capacity
  • Additional module APS: provides various methods, backward/forward, capacity considered
  • Additional module MS-Project integration: additional features of MS-Project

Simple backward scheduling method dispatches work orders only based on the factory calendar and does not check the resource limits, whether another work order has been dispatched for the same day. Therefore overloads can occur. To avoid this, the APS must be used, which can take into account existing time reservations. Material availability check ensures, the associated operation is started first, when material is available.

The capacity calculation is a core function that is used to the same extent for rough planning, MRP run, schedule specification and APS. Any methods can be set for APS in Calculation Methods. The standard package includes Default Calculation Methods which can then be used in APS planning.
