P&D Report Action Dynamic Syntax

When using the syntax ($[$12.0.DATE]|MM-dd-yyyy) on a P&D report action email I get the following result: (2020-07-17|dd-MM-yyyy) What am I missing here? Thanks in advance

This has been solved it was a syntax issue with single quotes.
