B1UP Server Component - MTE readiness
CompletadaHello,
B1UP Server Component shares the same SQL/HANA account for entire B1 landscape, thus B1UP SC cannot be used in public clouds.
Please see if you can escalate this security concern and roll "subscription" model into B1UP SC the same way it was introduced in CRMfO Server Component.
Thanks.

We have found that the iPayment Scheduling utility (to settle credit cards) works fine in a multi-tenant environment; however, the Print and Delivery scheduler is not supported. Why is there a difference? Is this because of the Server Component? Or is there something more to it?

Hi Michael
Could you elaborate on what you mean by this? The iPayment schedule and the B1 Print and Delivery schedule are implemented in exactly the same way so to the best of my knowledge they should work equally fine in a multi-tenant environment.
More general info on MTE here: https://support.boyum-it.com/hc/en-us/articles/360008604897-Does-Boyum-Horizontal-Add-ons-work-in-Multi-tenant-environments-MTE-

Rasmus, per your Support team, they are saying that P&D is not MTE ready, and since our customers access one server (with multiple session servers), this is not feasible. I'm told the P&D/Boyum Server Component is drastically different from the iPayment Server Component, so the scheduling for P&D will not work in MTE.
In addition, can we get a more direct answer on this? A 'they should work fine' doesn't give our IT team a lot of confidence.
According to Alex (response 2 months ago):
There have been already two request during last few weeks to enable B1UP Server Component for customers.
Reminder this is still not multi-tenancy compatible and no ETA yet provided by Boyum.
Their Products Team suggested to try to escalate it via enhancement request to see if this is hot topic for other partners – so far it is not ☹. What can we do here?

Hi Michael
As the article, I link to (https://support.boyum-it.com/hc/en-us/articles/360008604897-Does-Boyum-Horizontal-Add-ons-work-in-Multi-tenant-environments-MTE-) the definition of what MTE readiness is different for various people (from "total isolation and no server components allowed" to "can technically work across multiple companies").
But in any case, the iPayment and B1UP Server components work exactly in the same manner so if you are ok with iPayment in an MTE then you would also be OK with B1UP.
If you here and now want the most isolation and allow installing the Server Component then doing so multiple times on a separate machine is the best we can offer at the moment.
If you are going for a setup without server components at all (like it is not legal to have in example B1 Cloud Hosted by SAP, then I'm afraid we can't offer that yet (we have a long term plan to transition server components into cloud services, but the SAP technology is not 100% ready for this and it would be a huge undertaking on our end as well))
As for this specific feature request, we are still evaluation if we should switch iPayment and B1UP to the same model as CRMFO, but we want to do this right and make sure we can promise real isolation (technically while CRMFO is more isolated there is still a shared configuration component that some might not find "MTE" enough)

The development team has now completed this request. Expect it to be in the next release of the product. Thank you again for helping us make the product better :-)
