universal function

Hello, I have a universal function that generates a crystal report layout and saves the file in a folder.  If a file with the same file name exists, an error message is generated and the file will not be saved.  Since this is a layout document user may need to print multiple times after revision.  Is there anyway for the function to overwrite existing file?  Thanks.
