One item in several units of measure.
RespondidaHi Experts,
Is it possible to keep stock records for one item in several units of measure. If not, then maybe some idea how to meet customer expectations in this area. The customer wants to know what is the status of the item in the warehouse in each unit of measure (e.g. in boxes, cartons and pieces). And of course, for the solution to work efficiently during production planning. The customer does not want to create new items of the same product in different units, claiming that this creates an unnecessary mess.

Hi Can,
thanks for Your answer.
My problem is not in UoM in purchase, sales, inventory etc., I need something that will allow me to keep a quantitative record on one item for different features, e.g. milk item - storage 100l, including 50 bottles 1l, 2l cartons - 24l, 1l cartons - 26l. Of course, this is a simple division, but please imagine that these features are over 200.

Hi Robert,
Your requirement can be solved via a dedicated report or via beas 9.3 and B1UP integration. Bear in mind though that the stock taking transactions of SAP and beas always make reference to a single unit of measurement (the stock unit).
Thank you,
Luigi

Hi Luigi,
Thank you for your answer. I know that warehouse transactions relate to a single unit of measure. But I am looking for an idea on how to solve the problem of registering the same item in several units. It is impossible to use the batch management because the client uses batch too. Creating new items can not be either, because there would be a lot of these items. I am thinking about creating user tables and associating them with the item in the SBO. I am looking for an idea on how to use standard SAP tools, beas and B1UP for this?
I need a transaction of production receipt and transactions sales of such items.

Hi Robert,
The use of batch management as you suggest is an option. Also activating and using bin locations could be another. The problem here, though, is that you should take into account ALL the SAP / beas trasactions that can move an item into stock or evaluate its quantities flow and probably would obtain a better result if choices in those transactions are taken "automatically" by the system and not manually by the user. B1UP / beas integration could be of help, but the entire topic needs additional requirements analysis.
I'm changing this request to a feature request so that our development can check and advice accordingly.
Best regards,
Luigi

Hi,
i think, you have lot of problems, if you don't work with different items.
Example
Batches must have different prices. Example: Batch "Bottle" 1€, Batch "Box" = 6€. This is possible.
But if you move 1 Bottle to 1 Box, then the result is wrong, because 1 Box = 6 Bottles
If you look in reports from SAP, the price calculation per item is complete wrong.
If you want to have only different prices (price for bottle, price for box), you can use the SAP unit group prices
If you must handle the stock, you must create different items.

Hi Martin,
I know that I have lot of problem, but I am looking for a solution. Milk and a batch solution is possible. However, the problem is getting a commodity like cable production. The storage unit is m. But cable can be used from 1m to 5000m, broken down every m. Different cables are 10,000 items. The customer always sells the same cable, only of different lengths. In the case of many items, how to plan production (which length?). The division in length takes place only when product is receipt from production. I am looking for a solution in the form of a sub-item. This may also apply to steel production. Maybe it's worth finding a solution to this problem.
regards,
Robert
