FAQ - Installation in general

Q: Where do I find details on how to install it?
A: Included in the B1UP Download is an "Installation and upgrade guide.pdf" for how to install, or if you prefer video, then it is part of the Getting Started E-Learning series

Q: What are the installation requirements?
A: They are listed in the Install Guide provided that is part of the B1UP Download

Q: Do installation require any special windows permissions? 
A: No, there is no need to launch SAP Business One with "Run as Administrator" when installing B1UP.

Q: Do all users need to install it?
A: Depends on the machine setup; setup is a per-machine installation. If each user has their own machine they all need to install it, but if they are using a terminal server or Citrix environment a single install is needed for all users to get it. The installation process is 100% automated, so you only need to install it on a single machine, and then the SAP Business One installation mechanism will distribute it to the rest of the users the next time they restart the SAP Business One Client.

Q: Do you have Lightweight (LW) installers for CCC Environments?
A: Yes, they are included in the download as well.

Q: Which of the 2 Installation methods do you recommend?
A: For on-premise installations, we recommend the traditional installer as it gives the most flexibility for Boyum and allows us to give you the best installation experience.

For CCC environments we recommend LW installation and that install mechanism have some advantages there

Q: I have some installation issues in CCC regarding your LW Add-on. Who to contact
A: In any LW installations issue you should always contact SAP Support... LW Installers are essentially just glorified ZIP files, so at no point is any Boyum code executed during a LW install, so we have no insight to the installation issue cause; only SAP have.

Q: Where on my machine does the add-on place data?
A: The add-on place data 5 places.

1. In the installation folder (C:\Program Files\SAP\SAP Business One\Add-ons\BOY\B1 Usability Package)
2. In the users %appdata%\Boyum IT\BOY_USABILITY_X64 folder
3. RegEx entry in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\SAP\AddOn\BOY_USABILITY
4. In the ProgramData Folder (C:\ProgramData\Boyum IT)
5. (Optional Server component): C:\Program Files\Boyum IT\B1UP Server component

Q: Do I need to take a backup of any of this data?
A: No, not needed; all the data listed above is configuration/temporary data (the real data is all stored inside the SAP Business One database)
