It seems that SAP 9.2 PL06 has changed some logic that prevents us from controlling the Left-position on added tabs. In the past, you could set a left-value and control the left-most position but it seems that is ignored in SAP 9.2 PL06, and new tabs are always created as the last (right-most) tab.
Also, it seems that on some windows, adding a new tab also changes the order of the existing SAP Tabs in random order.
An interesting note is that this also happens with SAP's own UI Edit mode so 99% sure it is a bug from the SAP side.
We will investigate this together with SAP Support and update this article as more information becomes available.
Update (2017.02.22): Now logged to SAP Support as Ticket 92100/2017
Update (2017.02.23): The issue is now under investigation by the SAP developers
Update (2017.02.27): SAP Support has confirmed this as a bug they will fix in SAP 9.2 PL08. They have created SAP Note 2433070 on the matter (at the time of this writing the SAP Note is not released though). Update (2017.03.03): We asked SAP if there are any workarounds we could apply and unfortunately the answer is that there are no workarounds available and people need to wait for PL08 :-(
Update (25.5.2024): This is now the way SAP operates, and further announcements will not be made regarding it. It is always up to SAP in the end where the tabs end up, and what changes are made when the document state changes.

Hi Rasmus,
we are on SAP 9.3 PL10 and on Item Master Data screen we can not control the Tab Position from Left. Just wondering if SAP has provided a fix or this is still an open Issue?
Thanks
Ankit
Just tried on my SAP 9.3 PL10 and had no issues
Thanks Rasmus but see the below example,we want all the tabs to appear alongside with each other
And what happens if you set all the Tab Left positions to the same value (Example 100)... SAP's own tabs also have left values so guess the Purchase data tab has a left value between 100 and 125
The funny thing is it worked when the screen is on Find Mode but not on Add/OK Mode:
The system is a bit of a mess from SAP. In any case I'm afraid there is little more we can do :-( Ask SAP in the past for better control but they refuse :-(
